Over 1,000 road crashes reported in Punjab

Lahore witnesses 306 accidents in a day

At least seven people were killed and 1,146 were injured in 1,084 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the past 24 hours. Of the injured, 586 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 562 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams. The majority of RTCs, 71 percent, involved motorbikes.

Further analysis showed that 481 drivers, 31 underage drivers, 113 pedestrians and 420 passengers were among the victims of RTCs. The statistics show that 306 RTCs were reported in Lahore with 310 victims, placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list. Multan followed behind with 81 RTCs and 79 victims and Faisalabad at third with 76 RTCs and 71 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,084 victims were affected by RTCs, including 913 males & 227 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 144 were under 18 years of age, 450 were between 18 and 40 years old and the remaining 309 victims were reportedly above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 921 motorbikes, 83 rickshaws, 121 cars, 22 vans, 18 passenger buses, 17 trucks and 105 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforementioned RTCs.
