KARACHI:

Chief Minister’s Advisor on Agriculture, Manzoor Wassan, has announced that the assemblies will be dissolved between August 8 and 10. In a statement made on Saturday, Wassan stated that the general elections in the country, initially scheduled for October, will likely take place in November instead. He cited the hot weather in October and the need for adequate preparations by the Election Commission as reasons for the slight delay.

Wassan reiterated Pakistan Peoples PArty’s (PPP) commitment to holding timely elections and ensuring transparent results that are accessible to the people. Wassan also emphasised that alongside the general elections, a comprehensive accountability process will be conducted. He stated that some may face legal consequences while others may be acquitted.

Regarding the new census, Wassan acknowledged the challenges of conducting elections based on the new census data, as it would require approximately eight to ten months for completion.
