Citizens urged to combat drug abuse in youth

ANF official asks parents to keep an eye on children’s activities

ISLAMABAD:

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has called upon citizens to actively contribute to preventing drug addiction among the new generation.

ANF Enforcement Director Brigadier Rashid emphasised the importance of intensive mass awareness and prevention measures.

He urged the youth to prioritise their studies, remain vigilant of their surroundings, and report any suspicious activities to the ANF. Highlighting the need to create awareness, Brigadier Rashid mentioned the establishment of an Anti-narcotics Unit to crackdown on drug peddlers.

He emphasised that the youth, constituting 66 per cent of the population, could play a significant role in reducing the prevailing drug menace. Brigadier Rashid appealed to parents, teachers, and scholars to closely monitor the activities of young individuals, ensuring a bright and secure future free from narcotics. Member of Provincial Narcotics Control Committee, Akmal Owais Pirzada expressed belief in achieving Pakistan's goal of a drug-free society through grassroots level awareness. The ANF is actively engaged in advocacy walks, awareness seminars, and community participation programmes to educate people about drug abuse, he said.

Stressing the protection of the youth, who are the nation's greatest asset, Pirzada highlighted the ANF's leading role in mass awareness campaigns at national and international levels. He emphasised the importance of educating parents and guardians about the warning signs and risks associated with drug abuse, enabling them to provide support and guidance to their children.
