Kingpin of muggers’ gang arrested
The leader of a criminal street gang, who was wanted by the police, was injured during an alleged encounter with the Korangi Industrial Area Police on Tuesday. The accused, Adeel, aka Raju, has a previous criminal record and has confessed to committing over 50 robbery incidents in the city.
During the investigation, it was revealed that on the third day of Eid-ul-Azha, Adeel robbed and fired a citizen at Korangi Chamra Chowrangi. He also injured another citizen during a robbery at Korangi Weeta Chowrangi on June 19, 2023. Additionally, he and his accomplices recently robbed a barber shop in Madina Colony, where CCTV footage captured Adeel torturing civilians. Several robbery cases have been registered against him, and efforts are underway to obtain his criminal records from different districts.
The Korangi Industrial Area Police arrested Adeel during the encounter in Mehran Town on Tuesday evening. He was taken to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment as he sustained injuries. The police recovered a pistol with ammunition, two stolen mobile phones, cash, and a motorcycle from the accused.
