3 soldiers martyred in Waziristan attack
Three soldiers were martyred and as many civilians were critically injured after a vehicle-borne suicide bomber detonated himself in the general area of Miran Shah, located in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan District on Wednesday, the military said.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Naib Subedar Sahib Khan, aged 41 (a resident of Mianwali), Naik Muhammad Ibrahim, aged 40 (a resident of Dera Ismail Khan), and Sepoy Jehangir Khan, aged 24 (a resident of Mardan).
“These valiant servicemen paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, defending their homeland against the menace of terrorism,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The suicide bomber had targeted a security forces' post, intending to cause significant harm and destruction. However, due to the vigilance and swift action of on-duty soldiers, the attacker was intercepted and prevented from carrying out a major catastrophe.
Their timely response and suspicion averted a potential disaster, according to the military’s media wing.
“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” it added.
