Paywall access flaw disables ChatGPT’s Bing browsing feature

Publication websites use paywall features to encourage readers to sign up for a paid subscription

Tech Desk July 05, 2023

ChatGPT has currently disabled its Bing-based search engine feature after a loophole regarding bypassing paywalled content was figured out.

In a tweet on July 4, OpenAI informed the users that they are temporarily closing the feature to make the relevant changes.

The feature was available in Beta and to subscribers of the ChatGPT Plus service. The loophole is of great concern as websites use paywall features to encourage readers to sign up for a paid subscription.

Once the loophole is fixed, the feature will be available again.
