Exports in the country have increased by eight per cent during the last one month (June), although there has been a decrease of 40 per cent on an annual basis, while imports have decreased by 47 per cent and trade deficit by 63 per cent.
According to statistics, during the period of June, there was an eight per cent increase in exports in the country, but there was a 19 per cent decrease in domestic exports on an annual basis.
In June 2023, domestic exports were recorded at $2.37 billion.
Imports decreased by 47%. In June, Pakistan’s imports clocked in at $4.18 billion. According to the statistics, the country's trade deficit in June was $1.81 billion after a decrease of 15 per cent on a monthly basis, while on an annual basis, the trade deficit decreased by 63%.
Pakistan lifted the restrictions on imports in March 2023 after its current account deficit narrowed to a two-year low at $78 million in February 2023 in the wake of import control measures.
