KARACHI:

Usually, Eidul Azha sees spike in deep freezer sales and new homemakers buy the essential item to preserve the sacrificial meat, besides others replacing the older and out of order freezers.

A manager at a famoud home appliances showroom at Regal Chowk said that the sale of deep freezers was expected to decline by up to 75% due to higher electricity prices and increased costs of household appliances.

The famous Saddar Electronics Market in Karachi and other home appliance sales centres were experiencing a lack of customers. Shop owners told The Express Tribune that they were selling freezers at minimum profit margin to attract customers.

Referring to the local brands, a shopkeeper said that a single-door deep freezer was selling from Rs70,000 to Rs75,000, a double-door profound freezer costs between Rs90,000 and Rs100,000 and above.
