LAHORE:

Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has completed all arrangements for Eid cleanliness operation. The company has prepared a plan to efficiently use all available and additional resources to execute the annual cleanliness operation.

LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din, along with the District Administration and Deputy CEOs, visited multiple areas to review and monitor the pre-Eid special cleaning operation. They also oversaw the distribution of waste bags, public awareness camps, model camps, and camps established at the Union Councils level to ensure the supply of waste bags.

During their visit to various areas of the city, including Peco Road, Township, College Road, Johar Town, Allah Hoo Round About, Faisal Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Ferozepur Road, Muslim Town, Gulberg, Liberty, and temporary collection points, CEO Babar Sahib Din, along with Deputy CEO LWMC Muhammad Aurangzeb and Fahad Mehmood, reviewed the arrangements. He distributed Eidi and water bottles among the workers to motivate the staff posted at LWMC camps and the Chand Raat Zero Waste Operation.

As per the Eid plan, the department has installed 9 camps in cattle markets, 281 Union Council camps, and 30 model camps where the public can easily obtain environmental-friendly waste bags, file waste-related complaints, and ensure their resolution. More than 10,000 workers and 100% of LWMC vehicles have been mobilised in the field for the clean up operation during all three days of Eid.

A total of 343 excavators, 615 trolleys, 238 loaders, and 956 dumpers have been mobilized for the lifting and disposal of waste during the Eid operation. Additionally, 3,499 pick-ups have been outsourced for waste collection before and during the three days of Eid.

LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din stated the department was working tirelessly and with full zeal and zest to maintain cleanliness in the city. “The LWMC is well-prepared for executing the Eid cleanliness operation,” he said.
