RAWALPINDI:

The first shower of premonsoon rain took place on Saturday, leaving the city drenched in water.

The torrential downpour has resulted in overflowing gutters, causing a surge of muddy water.

As rainwater made its way into low-lying areas, residents were faced with numerous challenges.

The areas of Dhok Kala Khan, Sadiqabad, Dhok Kashmirian, and Kari Road experienced water entering houses and shops.

The heavy flow of rainwater in the streets caused severe distress to motorcyclists.

With the arrival of the evening, the situation worsened, leading to widespread waterlogging in vulnerable areas.

Shakkrial, Kaui Road, and Kahna Pul witnessed the ingress of water into the streets and lanes.

Residents diligently worked to safeguard their belongings, including furniture and valuable possessions, from the deluge.

However, the incessant rainfall continued to pose difficulties for the residents.

Many expressed concerns over the inadequate maintenance of drains, attributing the flooding to the unchecked entry of rainwater into the residential areas.

Surprisingly, no officials from the local administration were present to aid the distressed citizens during this time of need.

Traders faced significant losses as water seeped into numerous shops.

The residents apprehensively pondered the consequences of heavier downpours during the upcoming Monsoon season, considering the current situation.
