Conspiracy theories are running amok

In yet another intriguing coincidence, fans of the long-running animated series The Simpsons have theorised that the show may have predicted the recent disappearance of OceanGate's Titan submersible, reports Daily Mail. Known for its uncanny ability to seemingly foresee future events, the show has previously depicted inventions, technological advancements, and even political outcomes before they occurred.

One episode, titled Simpsons Tide, features Homer Simpson taking charge of a submarine. In another episode, Homer's Paternity Coot, Homer embarks on a submarine adventure in search of treasure near a shipwreck, encountering difficulties during the resurfacing process. Eagle-eyed theorists were quick to point out the similarities between these episodes and the real-life events surrounding the missing submersible.

Interestingly, Mike Reiss, one of the original writers of The Simpsons, has a personal connection to the Titan submersible. Reiss had previously been aboard the submersible to view the wreckage of the Titanic. Notably, he experienced communication issues during his journey, adding an intriguing layer to the connection between the show and the missing submersible incident.

Over the years, fans have observed various instances where The Simpsons episodes seemed to align with real-life events. From accurately predicting the original iPod's design and the invention of the Apple Watch to foreseeing the identity of the future US President, the show's supposed ability to anticipate the future has captivated audiences.

The real-life events surrounding the Titan submersible's disappearance unfolded tragically. According to The New York Times, debris from the vessel was discovered near the wreckage of the Titanic, leading to the presumption of the five individuals aboard the submersible being lost at sea. Reports indicated that acoustic sensors had detected indications of a possible implosion around the time communication was lost with the submersible. However, the search continued until confirmation of the submersible's fate was obtained.

While it remains a fascinating coincidence, it is important to approach the notion of The Simpsons predicting the missing submersible with skepticism. The show's purported predictions often rely on hindsight bias, where vague or general references are interpreted as precise predictions only after the events have occurred. Nevertheless, the show's track record has fueled ongoing speculation and added to its legendary status as a pop culture phenomenon.
