App to track PBS busses coming on June 22: Sharjeel

Says 20 green buses will arrive in Pakistan by August

Sindh Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Tuesday the Peoples Bus Service App will be launched on June 22.

The announcement was made during a meeting, chaired by the minister. During the meeting, the features of the app were highlighted, which include the ability for citizens to track vehicle locations, online booking, route information, fare details, and submission of complaints directly to the relevant authorities.

The implementation of the Intelligent Transport System will also facilitate vehicle monitoring, with CCTV cameras installed in the buses to enhance surveillance.

The vehicles will be equipped with audio systems, USB ports, Wi-Fi communication systems, and driver alarms to enhance the overall travel experience, ensuring passenger safety and convenience.

The minister also announced that 20 green buses will arrive in Pakistan by August 20 and will be incorporated into the Peoples Bus Service (PBS) fleet.

The minister said that further surveys will be conducted to initiate the service on the Lyari Expressway. Sharjeel stressed upon the importance of addressing the issue of electric bus chargers, directing officials to resolve the problem promptly.

He reiterated his commitment to providing the public with the best, comfortable, and affordable bus service, emphasising the government's focus on meeting the needs and ensuring the satisfaction of the public.

Memon acknowledged the hardships faced by people during travel and expressed the intention to alleviate these difficulties.

He also announced plans to connect rural areas of Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Mirpurkhas with urban areas through the Peoples Bus Service, ensuring residents in these areas have access to reliable transportation.

The meeting included representatives from the Transport Department and NRTC officials, as well as key figures such as Secretary of Transport Saleem Rajput, Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kamal Dayo, and Trans Karachi CEO Tufail Palijo.
