Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecasted a sudden increase of temperature by 3 to 5 degrees from June 20 to 24 along with heatwaves, dust storms, strong winds, and rainfall in several areas of Hazara division.
In this regard, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) KPK advised all citizens to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the expected heatwave.
They said that farmers should especially proper irrigation for crops and plants. They further instructed the citizens to minimise sun exposure from 10am to 5pm especially the elderly and the children.
It was also advised to drink adequate water in the heat. Individuals with medical conditions were advised to keep their medication in stock.
Moreover, they advised citizens to wear light-coloured and loose-fitted clothes and to cover their heads to protect them from the intensity of heat. If any citizen experiences heatstroke or water scarcity, they should immediately contact their nearest healthcare centre. Rescue emergency services should be available to handle emergencies.
PDMA also directed all tehsil municipal administrations (TMAs), public health departments, water and sanitation services companies and municipal services to ensure the provision of services.
