Sharjeel announces launch of Peoples Bus Service app
Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, has unveiled plans for the launch of the Peoples Bus Service App on June 22.
The announcement came during a high-level meeting held in Karachi on Tuesday, chaired by Provincial Minister Memon, and attended by various officials from the Transport Department and the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC).
The meeting focused on the integration of the Intelligent Transport System with the Peoples Bus Service, which aims to revolutionise public transportation in Sindh.
The officials present, including the Secretary of Transport, the Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority, the CEO of Trans Karachi, the Project Director of PSB, and the Operational Manager of Peoples Bus Service, discussed the features and implementation of the new app.
According to the briefing provided during the meeting, the Peoples Bus Service app will offer a range of features to enhance passengers' travel experience. These include real-time vehicle tracking, online booking, route information, fare details, and a platform to submit complaints directly to the relevant authorities. The implementation of the Intelligent Transport System will also enable comprehensive vehicle monitoring through the installation of CCTV cameras in the buses.

To further improve passenger convenience, the buses will be equipped with amenities such as audio systems, USB ports, Wi-Fi communication systems, and driver alarms. These additions aim to ensure passenger safety and enhance overall satisfaction during their journey.
During the meeting, it was revealed that 20 green buses are scheduled to arrive in Pakistan by August 20 and will be incorporated into the Peoples Bus Service. Additionally, specific surveys will be conducted to initiate the service on the Lyari Expressway, enhancing connectivity in that area.
Provincial Minister Memon expressed his commitment to providing the public with the best, most comfortable, and affordable bus service. He emphasised that the Sindh government acknowledges the difficulties faced by the people during travel and is dedicated to alleviating these challenges. The minister also underscored the importance of prioritising the needs and satisfaction of the public in the provision of bus services.
Memon further announced plans to connect rural areas in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Mirpurkhas with urban areas through the Peoples Bus Service. The government intends to launch projects to facilitate this connectivity and ensure that residents in these rural areas have access to reliable and efficient bus transportation.
