The Lakki Marwat Oil and Gas Field project has been completed in one year, it was reported on Tuesday.
The country’s largest state-run hydrocarbon producer, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced oil and gas production from the Wali (Bettani) Gas Field located in Bettani tehsil of Lakki Marwat district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The discovery of oil and gas deposits was hailed as a historic development by Pakistan.
The oil and gas field has the capacity to produce 1,000 barrels of oil per day and can add about 1.3 million cubic feet of gas to the national grid.

The supply of gas from this field is to be fed into the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited’s (SNGPL) transmission system.
By the end of the financial year 2023-2024, savings at maximum or full production are expected to exceed $176 million.
The process of drilling two additional wells connected to this project is to begin in the next two months.
