Child Servant Killing: ‘Phone records may absolve accused’

LAHORE: A judicial magistrate has remanded a woman accused of beating a child servant to death for two more weeks in judicial custody after the police implied that she had an alibi and sought more time to investigate.

Magistrate Sehar Islam told police officials to submit the challan against the accused on September 11. Kahna police produced Sadia Asif before the judge and reported that her mobile phone data indicated that she had not been home at the time of the incident (3pm), but at an ‘iftar party’ in Defence. He said the investigation was continuing. Asif, a resident of Valencia Housing Society, allegedly beat Taqi to death because he had forgotten to feed her pet dog.
