Teen drowns in Indus

Deceased was out for a picnic

HYDRABAD:

A 15-year-old boy drowned in the Indus River while his friend was rescued at a popular picnic spot in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Shayan and Hasnain were enjoying a day out on the riverbank when they decided to splash in knee deep water as none of them knew how to swim and the rfiver was swollen too due to recent rains in the upcountry.

As they were splashing and playing Hasnain slipped and was swept away by strong current, Shayan leaped to save him and was also drawn into deep by raging torrents. A diver present at the location managed to save Hasnain, but Shahyan lost his life. His family was devastated on the news of his drowning.
