The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has notified a reduction of Rs0.05 per unit in power tariff for consumers of K-Electric (KE) on account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for April 2023.
KE had requested an increase of Rs0.49 per unit, Nepra said in a statement. The regulator made the decision and notified the tariff revision after holding a public hearing on May 30, 2023.
Earlier, KE customers were charged a tariff hike of Rs3.93 per unit under FCA for March, which was applicable for one month only, Nepra said.
April FCA would be Rs3.98 per unit less than March, it pointed out, adding that it would also be applied for one month only.
It will not apply to lifeline consumers, domestic consumers using up to 300 units per month, agricultural customers and electric vehicle charging stations.
Meanwhile, KE in a statement said that after due process, Nepra issued its decision on the company’s petition for a reduced FCA for the month of April 2023.
The tariff has been reduced by Rs0.0472 per unit and it will reflect in consumer bills in June 2023. FCAs are approved by the regulator, Nepra, after review, which also specifies the month during which the charge is applied, KE said.
