Widow takes own life, poisons daughter

Teenager admitted to hospital in critical condition

A 30-year-old widow residing near Pansera committed suicide and poisoned her teenage daughter allegedly after an altercation with her brother.

Saba Ghafoor allegedly gave poison to her 13-year-old daughter Uman and also consumed the toxic substance herself afterwards.

Both the mother and daughter were transported to the Allied Hospital, where Saba succumbed to the poisoning, while Uman was battling for her life during treatment.

Police handed the body to the family after completing legal formalities.

Meanwhile, a case was filed against the mother-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law of a woman over setting her on fire.

The incident had occurred in Chandian Talwan.

The victim, 22-year-old Kainat, is in a critical condition in the Allied Hospital.

Upon receiving a complaint from her brother Ali Sher, Millat Town police registered a case under Section 336B of Pakistan Penal Code and initiated a search operation to apprehend the suspects.

In another development, the police apprehended an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and six other proclaimed offenders in a two-month-old double murder case.

A son-in-law of Inspector Tahir Salim and Muhammad Hussain had been murdered in an act of revenge.

ASI Riyasat Ali, Noor Hasan, Ijaz alias Jaaji, Arbaaz alias Mithu, Yasin, Iftikhar and Nasir were captured by the police.

The incident had taken place with the jurisdiction of Tandlianwala city police station, after which the suspects had fled.

Mamo Kanjan police arrested the suspects in raids and seized the murder weapon. They were handed over to the Tandlianwala police for legal proceedings.
