CHISHTIAN:

Several people were arrested in Chishtian on charges of torturing their cousin.

An FIR was registered on the complaint of Babar Israr with the City A Division Police Station of Chishtian in which the complainant said that suspects Farhan and Adnan were his cousins.

Their (Farhan’s and Adnan’s) father, who happened to be Babar Israr’s paternal uncle, died a few days ago.

The complainant said that his cousins suspected that he had stolen their father's rings.

The suspects visited his house and asked him to accompany them to their house because it needed to be tidied up.

Farhan and Adnan took their cousin on their motorcycle. When they had covered a little distance, they told him that tidying up their house was just a ruse, and that they actually wanted to kidnap him and torture him until he told them where their father’s rings were.

Babar told the police that they forcibly took him to their house in Chak No. 15 in Ghajiani, where a third accused had also been present.

As soon as they reached there, they started slapping and punching him. They tied his hands and feet with a rope and hung him upside down and continued beating him.

The suspects also made a video of the whole spectacle and uploaded it on social media.

Police registered a case and arrested the suspects.

In the month of August last year, a woman and her daughter-in-law had been tortured allegedly by some influential people over a dispute over land possession in the limits of Shahbhor Police Station in Okara.

The accused kept dragging the old woman after tying her with ropes, and they also made a video of the ordeal the two women went through.

Later the video was made viral on social media and on some news channels.

After the video went viral, the then IGP of Punjab, Faisal Shahkar, took notice of the incident and ordered registration of a case.

Shahbhor police arrested the accused on the complaint of Munira Bibi.

According to the SHO of the Shahbhor Police Station, Rab Nawaz, accused Imdad and other had earlier tried to occupy the 21-marla land belonging to the woman.

The woman filed a petition in the court which issued an injunction.

Due to this grudge, accused Imdad, his father and other men and women allegedly trespassed into Munira Bibi's house and pressured her into withdrawing the case.

Upon her refusal to do so, the accused allegedly tortured Munira Bibi by tying her with ropes.

When Munira Bibi's daughter-in-law intervened to defend her mother-in-law, she too was tortured.

The accused continued to torture Munira Bibi by tying her with ropes and dragging her all around the house.

The accused also allegedly continued to make videos which went viral on social media.

The Shahbhor Police Station registered a case against six accused.

There have been many cases in the province in which miscreants resorted to torturing and humiliating people publicly, whether men or women.

In the month of April 2022, an Elite Force constable was tortured in Khurrianwala by three men, including her husband, allegedly over resentment over lawsuits and barring him from drinking.

The complainant also accused the men of trying to burn her children alive.
