I want her to wear a Burqa: Yasir Nawaz says wife Nida Yasir would look better covered

Celebrity couple Nida Yasir and Yasir Nawaz have often made headlines with their statements. The duo, who have achieved a lot professionally, sat down for a quick interview ahead of their 21st wedding anniversary. While talking about favourite colours, Yasir made a remark on how he wishes his wife would wear a niqab or Burqa but Nida said she would only consider it for Allah, and not her husband.

Nida and Yasir made a guest appearance on The Talk Talk Show where the host asked them questions about each other to see who knows their partner the best after completing two decades together. When asked about which roles Yasir gives his all in and can be called the best – in terms of his professional and personal life – Nida said ‘actor’ almost immediately.

“Actor? Really? You like Yasir as an actor more than as your husband?” the host asked, surprised. “Yes. He’s a great actor. He’s fine as a husband but he’s a great actor. I love watching him on screen,” she said. Nida continued to rank his roles and after some thought, declared him a better son to his parents than an actor. “So it’s father, son, actor, director, brother, and then a husband. He’s fine as a husband, but so am I. I’m an okay wife,” she said, pleased.

The conversation then moved to favourite colours, holiday destinations, romantic gestures and dishes. “His favourite colour nowadays is black because he looks slim in it,” she laughed. “And he likes bright colours on me like rust and orange. I, however, like pinks and peaches more,” the Good Morning Pakistan host said, while looking at her husband.

Upon whether she gave the right answer, Yasir stated, “Yes, it is right to some extent. But i want her to wear a burqa or a niqab. She’d look better that way,” he said. Nida, on the other hand, said that she would only consider it for her God, and not anyone else. “Then do it for your Allah only,” Yasir chuckled, amidst an awkward air.

Nida and Yasir are actually quite opposite to each other when it comes to travelling. While Nida is a big travel enthusiast, Yasir’s favourite holiday destination is his own home. “I seriously get depression a few days before a trip. I think about the chaos and waking up early. The plane rides and constant travel makes me feel drained. I like it at home,” Yasir said. “If Nida wasn’t my wife, I may not even have taken a trip to Sukkur ever.”

Upon what places are Nida’s favourite holiday destinations, Yasir said Switzerland. “Anywhere outside Pakistan really but she particularly loves Switzerland. There’s a Yash Chopra Street there. Soon, there’ll be one named after her,” he joked. Nida added that she also loves places inside Pakistan but there are privacy issues. “Yasir says that since we are celebrities and people know us here, we can’t enjoy our vacation in peace,” she exclaimed.
