Mango diplomacy: Shehbaz, Erdogan exchange pleasantries

Aware of sweetness and delicacy of Pakistani mangoes, says Turkish president

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchanged pleasantries during their interaction marked by interesting remarks on the inauguration ceremony of the latter on Saturday.

The prime minister travelled to Turkiye to join the world leaders in the inauguration ceremony of President Erdogan. His spouse also joined the interaction. Both appreciated Pakistani mangoes.

A video making rounds on social media captures conversation between PM Shehbaz, President Erdogan and the first lady, discussing the recent presidential election and exchanging pleasantries.

During the interaction, Shehbaz presents a gift to the president-elect and his wife as a token of appreciation. In a lighthearted moment, the prime minister humorously mentions that he has brought a gift of mangoes from Pakistan, saying that half of the mangoes are for the president-elect, and the other half is for the first lady.

President Erdogan reciprocated by saying that he was aware of the sweetness and delicacy of Pakistani mangoes.

The prime minister conveyed felicitation to the president on his re-election and said that the Pakistani nation was overjoyed at his success.

He also thanked him for extending an invitation to attend the ceremony and share their joys, the PM Office said in a statement.

The prime minister, on the occasion, expressed best wishes for the president-elect.

Both Erdogan and his spouse thanked the prime minister for his participation.
