Six terror suspects arrested in Punjab

The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested six terror suspects linked to banned outfits during operations across Punjab on Saturday.

According to the spokesman, CTD Punjab conducted 39 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in different districts across the province to deal with any untoward incident of terrorism, in which 40 suspects were interrogated and 6 terror suspects were arrested with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials.

The arrested suspects were identified as Shoaib Rafiq, a member of the banned organization Hizb-e-Tahrir; Muhammad Baqir Mehndi, a member of Sepah Muhammad Pakistan; two members of the Baloch Liberation Army, identified as Zahir Shah and Muhammad Shahzad; Muhammad Afzal, a member of Jamaat-ul-Harar and Asif, a member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the spokesman said.

The spokesman said 415 grams of explosive material, a hand grenade, an IED, six detonators, safety fuse wire, four prohibited books, 31 pamphlets, nine stickers, two flags and a receipt book had been seized.
