KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has asked the Home Secretary to report on a petition related to the disappearance of MQM activist Mushtaq Adil Bara. Mushtaq’s parents stated before Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto that their son has been missing for the past nine years.

They said that they had called everywhere, but no one tells the truth. Almost 15 Joint Investigation Teams’ meetings were held with no progress. Mushtaq was on his way to an event in Nazimabad when he was abducted by unidentified people.

Justice Phulpoto questioned investigators about the progress of 15 JITs carried out so far. The court sought reports from the home secretary and KP detention centres.

A two-member bench headed by Justice KK Agha heard the petitions related to bringing the accused involved in the killing of civilians back to Pakistan from abroad. Petitioner Maham Amjad’s father was killed by his office colleague Taqi Shah in 2008.
