ISLAMABAD:

Educationists from across the country, who had gathered in Islamabad for a two-day workshop, underscored on Thursday the importance of developing a national consensus on assessment of foundational learning for children from early years up to grade three.

The experts pointed out that foundational learning was a basic building block for equitable and lifelong learning. They agreed to the deadline of adopting a national consensus document that would outline a common assessment tool for children across the country by November this year.

The workshop was held to implement the commitment made for addressing the foundational learning crisis discussed at last year’s Transforming Education Summit in the UN. It brought together 50 experts from across Pakistan to Islamabad. ITA, the Pakistan Institute of Education and the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education spearheaded the intervention.
