Sehwan Development Authority (SDA), the development arm of Jamshoro district, has suspended the approval of layout plans and the no objection certificates (NOCs) given to seven housing schemes.
In separate letters addressed to the builders and developers of those housing schemes, Assistant Director Planning and Development Control, the authority cited delay in internal development of the projects as the reason for the punitive action.
Jamshoro is witnessing a rapid growth in the housing schemes. Many Karachi-based builders and developers are also launching their projects along M9 Motorway in Jamshoro, whose territory stretches from Sehwan to Lucky Cement factory on the motorway.
Abdullah Royal, Madina City and Ideal City were issued the NOCs as far back as in 2010 and 2011. The official stated that the builders in question were issued several notices to explain the causes of delay in carrying out internal development but they did not reply.
The SDA has asked the builders to get verification of their land records from the Directorate of Settlement and Survey besides formally seeking extension on the layout plan for restoration of the NOCs.
Meanwhile, the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) Hyderabad Region Vice Chairman Engr Faraz Memon, has accused some officers of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) of targeting his project in revenge of his written complaints against some officers of the authority.
The Sindh High Court, after hearing complaints of Memon, barred the SBCA from taking action against the petitioner's housing scheme in Hyderabad.
According to him, he wrote a letter on April 17 to chairman ABAD Sindh chapter against some officers of SBCA Hyderabad. The same complaint was forwarded by the chairman to Director General SBCA. Subsequently, explanation notices were served on the accused officers.
He claimed that in reaction to his complaints the authority served him two notices, alleging that the approved building plan and the no objection certificate have been violated.
He apprised the court that on May 23 the SBCA sought help from the commissioner's office in order to seal the project's booking office.
The court adjourned hearing of the petition till August 17 while putting the respondents on notice.
Last month, the DG SBCA removed Regional Director Hyderabad Muhammad Raqeeb and served explanation notices to Mumtaz Ali Lashari and Ameer Hussain Zardari of SBCA Hyderabad on ABAD's complaint.
