The Sindh government has decided to compensate the owners of the vehicles burnt on May 9 by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers following the arrest of their chairman.
The PTI activists had burnt at least 11 motorcycles and a car on Sharia Faisal, besides other government properties like a prison van, a KWSB sewerage suction truck, and Red Bus. Sindh Government Barrister Murtaza Wahab, speaking informally to the media representatives, said that the people whose motorcycles and cars were burnt in the violent incidents of May 9 will be given new motorcycles by the Sindh government.
Meanwhile, police sources said that people seeking compensation will have to file an FIR of the incident. These FIRs will consequently strengthen cases against the arsonists.
Sources in police department confirmed that Additional IG Karachi held a meeting with the SSPs investigation and told them to contact May 9 riots victims and register cases on their complaints.
