Karachi board offers A-levels failures to sit XI, XII exams in one go

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has devised a strategy to facilitate Cambridge system A-level students who have failed their exams, ensuring that their academic year is not wasted.

Under this plan, failure A-level students will have the opportunity to appear for XI and XII exams administered by BIEK both years simultaneously.

The Inter Boards Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has been requested to consider allowing A-level students to switch to the BIEK system.

The strict policies of Cambridge necessitate that students failing A-levels seek permission from the IBCC to save their academic year. If the proposal is approved, students will be able to take 12 papers of the Inter board exams simultaneously, preventing any year gap.

The proposal will be presented at the IBCC forum for consideration.

In response to the changing educational landscape, BIEK has also introduced an app to align the curriculum with international standards. Additionally, BIEK has announced the implementation of e-marking for the first time this year, specifically for commerce students in Class XI, both private and regular.

However, practical exams will require proper laboratory facilities.

The suggestion will be made at the IBCC forum to introduce e-marking for commerce students in their first year. The board has already issued a tender for this purpose. The hybrid system will continue to be employed, and the board aims to introduce e-marking initially for a smaller faculty with low enrollment, enabling them to gain experience in scanning and cropping processes within the board premises.

The question papers will be sent to examiners, ensuring transparency and faster result processing. If the experiment proves successful, e-marking will be expanded to all faculties from the following year.
