MUZAFFARABAD:

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Sunday that India could not suppress the voices of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by holding a G20 meeting in the disputed region.

Bilawal arrived in Muzaffarabad on Sunday on a three-day visit to AJK to express solidarity with the people of IIOJK in the wake of India’s nefarious motives behind holding a G-20 meeting on Tourism in Srinagar.

En route to Muzaffarabad, Bilawal, also the Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), was welcomed by hundreds of his party workers at the Kohala Bridge that linked Pakistan and AJK. Later, the PPP leaders and AJK officials welcomed him in Muzaffarabad.

India is the current chair of the G20, which groups some rich nations of world and the EU. India is hosting the G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar on May 22-24 in Srinagar. Pakistan has opposed the meeting in disputed territory.

“It is not possible for India to play an important role in the world by violating UN resolutions,” Bilwal told the media in Muzaffarabad.

“I believe that when a country takes a step like that India has taken, its real face comes in front of the world,” he added.

During the visit, Bilawal will address the AJK Assembly and lead a protest rally in the Bagh district to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Also during the visit, Bilawal will meet local political leadership at a dinner-reception.

The AJK government has also announced protests and rallies throughout the region on Monday against the G-20 summit in Srinagar and the human rights abuses in IIOJK, while traders have called a shutter-down strike in the AJK capital.
