KARACHI:

As Eidul Azha is approaching, authorities have started arrangements to establish a cattle market of sacrificial animals on a 700-hectare area along the Super Highway, near Northern Bypass.

Even though the cattle market has not been officially announced, a trader from Gulshan-e-Hadeed has offloaded the first truckload of sacrificial animals. The off-loading process attracted a large number of youth and YouTubers who enthusiastically captured the scene on their mobile phone cameras.

The administration of the cattle market has been entrusted to Muzaffar Hussain, and contracts for parking, water supply, and other services have also been issued. The market will have a capacity to accommodate over 500,000 sacrificial animals, as per the administrator.

The market received its first shipment of sacrificial animals from trader Anwar Ali Ghorbani of Model Cattle Farm located on Gulshan-e-Hadeed Link Road in Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that he has always been the first to bring sacrificial animals to the annual cattle market. He was particularly happy to see so many young curious onlookers and YouTubers to film his shipment.

According to Yawar Raza Chawla, the spokesperson of the cattle market, the announcement for the opening of this market would be made soon. The contract for the parking area, spanning 250 acres, has been awarded to Shakeel Khan, who is implementing comprehensive measures, including the security and installation of lights to keep the gigantic market illuminated. Contracts have also been awarded. Contract for water supply to all blocks in the market has been awarded to Noor Ahmad. Supply of fodder contract has been given to Abdullah Qureshi. Iqbal Ahmed gets electric supply contract and provision of cold drinks and mineral water contract given to Iqbal Shah.

Additionally, the contract to construct 300 toilets in different blocks has been awarded to Nazir to facilitate traders. Chawla further explained that the land has been leveled, lighting poles are being installed in different blocks, and stringent security measures have been put in place with the establishment of security checkpoints around the cattle market.

In the coming days, a large number of sacrificial animals from various provinces will be brought to Karachi and will be available for sale at this market.

The spokesperson further stated that the market comprises more than 48 blocks, each designated for different breeds of animals, including cows, bullocks, goats, camels, and sheep.
