Two ‘robbers’ arrested after police encounter
Two robbers were arrested in injured condition after an alleged police encounter took place within the limits of Saddar Wah police station, said a police spokesperson.
He said that law enforcement officials were conducting routine checks in the Jalala Road area of Saddar Wah police station during the late hours of Thursday night. It was at this time that the police signalled four individuals, who were riding on two motorcycles and appeared to be suspicious, to stop. However, the situation escalated rapidly as the accused individuals responded by opening fire on the police party, which caused them to take protective positions in response to the attack.
In response, police retaliated with gunfire and as a result, the two accused on the motorcycle fell to the ground due to bullet wounds. Unfortunately, the accused on another motorcycle managed to escape from the scene.
According to police, the two accused identified as Iftikhar and Abdullah were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila in police custody. During the investigation, the accused individuals disclosed that they had ventured out during the night with the intention of committing robbery and snatching. However, their plans were thwarted when they encountered the law enforcement officials who subsequently engaged them in a confrontation.
On the other hand, the police said that the process of identifying the escaped dacoits has been completed and they will be arrested soon.
