LAHORE:

Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, son of veteran politician Shujaat Hussain, has said the government is yet to complete its inquiry regarding a search of his house.

“Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured us of action against those officers and personnel of the police and Anti-Corruption Establishment who had led the illegal raid on our house,” he said while speaking to The Express Tribune on Wednesday.

The caretaker chief minister, upon his return to the country after performing Umrah, went to residence of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, whose house had been raided last week, which had left injured both his sons, Federal Minister Salik Hussain and Shafay Hussain.

Salik Hussain, whose party is in the coalition government at the centre, is a relative of Naqvi.

The caretaker CM had left for Umrah a day before the raid on PTI leader Pervaiz Elahi’s residence that is located within the same compound with his cousin Shujaat Hussain in Gulberg.

On the night of the incident, the police and ACE, after searching the residence of Elahi, had reportedly been informed by someone from within the family that he was hiding in Shujaat’s home. This had led the police to the entrance of Shujaat’s house.

Both his sons stood guard at the entrance, informing the police that Elahi was not inside, but the personnel tried to break the iron door. The federal minister was hit by a piece of glass shattered from the door, which left a wound on his left hand.

On Wednesday, the caretaker CM enquired after the wellbeing of Salik Hussain.

He was accompanied by the chief secretary, IG of police and CCPO of Lahore.
