Jiah Khan case: CBI says suicide note was ‘written by her mother’

Sooraj Pancholi claims in a note post acquittal, years after being accused of ‘abetting’ suicide

Sooraj Pancholi, the Bollywood actor who was accused of abetting the suicide of actor Jiah Khan, was recently declared "not guilty" by a Mumbai court. Now, as per CBI, the court has found that the six-page suicide note that had been used as evidence against him was ‘fake’. Sooraj was arrested by the Mumbai police following Jiah's death in June 2013, and had been charged with abetment to suicide.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sooraj shared that the suicide note was confirmed false in the proceedings after 10 years, and questioned why he was arrested in the first place. Recalling what a show his trial was, he said, "My trial was a complete media trial, it was not in court, it was more outside the court." The Hero actor also revealed that he wants to move on with his life, and does not want to go against the Mumbai police, the authorities, or even Jiah's mother.

Earlier, Sooraj had revealed that in court, it was proved that Jiah's six-page letter matched the notebook that was found at the late actor’s house, which belonged to Jiah's mother Rabia. "The notes inside, the handwriting, is Jiah's mother's handwriting," Sooraj said.

After the verdict was announced on April 28, Sooraj took to his Instagram Stories and wrote, "The truth always wins,” and added the hashtag “God is great."

Sooraj made his acting debut with the romantic action film Hero and later starred in Satellite Shankar. While he admitted to losing projects due to the Jiah Khan case, now that he has been acquitted, he plans to work even harder.
