Jacket worth INR200K, tee for INR24K? Indian Twitter in shock over Aryan Khan's streetwear prices

Some of the clothing line articles come signed by the brand's ambassador, Shah Rukh Khan

Aryan Khan's first onscreen stint saw him running towards Jaya Bachchan's embrace in the 2003 blockbuster, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He was essaying a toddler Rahul (later played by his father, King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan). And boy, was he adored on and off the screen.

It was only natural for industry insiders to assume that Aryan will take over his father and fill the latter's humongous shoes. He would, of course, like his superstar dad, become a star. However, much to everyone's shock and Shah Rukh's surprise, Aryan wanted to get behind the camera - not face it.

And his first project has been sort of a dream come true.

The eldest Khan sibling has launched his first-ever brand, with his father as its brand ambassador. For the first time, Aryan sat behind the camera, giving directions to his old man as the duo eventually revealed their venture. D’YAVOL X is a new luxury streetwear brand and is Aryan's baby.

The first offering spans two tees, two sweatshirts, three hoodies, and the brand’s Signature X jacket, of which only 30 pieces signed by its brand ambassador, Shah Rukh, will be made available.

But the collection is hardly affordable for the common masses - or so many Indians say. According to the brand's website, a tee shirt could cost as much as INR24,000 and their signature leather jacket would set you back for INR200,555. As per India Times, 555 in the price tag is the Swades star's favourite figure. Even thought the prices are steep, Aryan's maiden collection has been sold out!

However, that doesn't stop Twitter users to take a jibe or two on the latest brand.

Aryan on directing Shah Rukh Khan

“For me, apparel is an outlet for creativity. Even in filmmaking, costume design is a very important part of capturing the right mood and telling the story,” the youngster told Vogue India in an exclusive interview.

Why streetwear? “Outside of special occasions, I feel that most people gravitate towards a streetwear style. Some mix and match to give it a more formal look, but the sheer versatility of streetwear appeals to me,” he said. “It’s also a style that is unisex by default, and can have a whole range of interpretations—from quite minimalist, to very graphically intense.”

Aryan also divulged about shooting his father for the announcement video. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar India, the starkid reveals what is a perfect shot, according to him. "If I got into the technicalities of the perfect shot, I could spend hours talking to you about the right lighting or the perfect angles, but a perfect shot is subjective. And the truth is, you can never get it."

He went on to add, "Thus, when I first look at what I’ve made, the first thing that jumps at me is the mistakes, despite the supposedly perfect light set-up and camera angles. But that’s the beauty and the fun of making movies; you are always trying to capture that elusive best shot. And maybe one day I’ll get it. And if not, there’s always the editing crew."

And working with Shah Rukh, as Aryan puts it, was very challenging. "Working with my father is never challenging, because, with his experience and dedication, he makes everyone’s job easier on set. He also makes the entire crew feel at ease and has tremendous respect for everyone. When he’s on set I always make sure to pay extra attention, so I don’t miss out on anything I can learn," he told the outlet.

The Dilwale star, as one would expect, made his thoughts known while working with his son. "Of course, he did, and everyone involved in the project gave their input in some way. And it is important to at least listen to them because filmmaking is a collaborative effort. If my dad's input is different from mine, and if both seem valid, you can always shoot it both ways; but don’t tell my producer," Aryan shared.
