Interior Minister Rehman Malik told the media in Karachi that the federal government has re-appointed Ijaz Chaudhry as DG Rangers Sindh adding that Chaudhry will be assuming charge tomorrow.
Chaudhry was dismissed as DG Rangers on the orders of the Supreme Court (SC) during the Sarfaraz Shah Murder trial.
Meanwhile in a statement issued today, the ISPR also made it clear that the court had sentenced the officials involved in the Sarfaraz Shah Murder Case where in the DG Rangers Sindh was also dismissed on the orders of SC. But now, in light of the situation in Karachi, his services were at the disposal of the federal government.

My 7 year old knows that Army is an institution established under the constitution. Courts interpret the constitution and instruct govt to do things. So, CJ did not remove DG from his orders. He asked Govt. to do that. It was transgression by ISPR instead, to ask govt to re-seat the suspended DG Rangers. Who does not love his "kursi" after all in this country?
The SC may not have had the proper authority to dismiss the General --- but someone does and this guy deserved to be fired.
well every institution comes under the authority of supreme court. so if a person is suspected to be involved or showed criminal negligence over cold bloded murder of a civilian every citizen can be brought to justice either hez a military person or not. Law is equal for all. n also its important to mention that its good that he got restored after getting thoroughly investigated hence the law prevailed...
@basharat: Appointment of Rangers is the authority of the interior minister and CJ instructed and can instruct paramilitary forces which come under the government to change/remove the Director general. Its nothing bad what CJ did but the sarfraz shah case was more of a public pressure without any sense in it. When you give rangers shoot at sight orders, they are unquestionable when the boy was filmed wearing a mask on his face and claiming himself that the gun was fake, but again that comes under harassing people even with fake weapon and violation of public order & peace
Actually, if a case like Sarfaraz Shah's murder had occurred in any other country, the head of the relevant department would have immediately resigned assuming the responsibility. In Pakistan this is not the culture. Here, after such incidents, the first statement from the official is, "I condemn what happened, but I won't resign." .... KURSI is very dear in Pakistan.
I don't think Chief Justice's decision is 'exceeding the authority'. He should have ordered suspension of Interior Minister and Police Chief also after the continuous bloodshed in Karachi.
Order to remove/ transfer of an Army General was an act of exceeding its authority on the part of the Chief Justice, it should have been resisted, obeying an order which is unlawful on the face of it, in my view can be ignored. The does not have administrative authority over Army.
Well done army. Thanks god some institution has the teeth to refute judicial dictatorship. Pak army Zindanad. Pakistan paindabad
