'Suspected murder' plea by Dania Shah dismissed by court in Aamir Liaquat case

The popular televangelist was found dead last year at his Karachi residence in June last year

Additional district and sessions judge dismissed Dania Shah's appeal to register a murder case on late televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain's death, reported Express.pk. Hussain's third wife and widow sought registration of an FIR of “suspected murder” of her husband in June last year.

The plea cited Hussain was given Rs250 million by some unknown persons in February of last year and Shah had also acquired video of the same. Hussain was found dead at his Karachi residence on June 9 in mysterious circumstances.

According to the filed appeal, the late host had kept Rs30 million in the bank while the rest of the money was put in a safe in his Khudadad colony residence's safes where he was allegedly murdered. Shah recorded her statement and named Mumtaz, Ali Javaid, Saqib and Abbas alongside three more persons. 

Last year, Hussain – who was also a PTI MNA from a Karachi constituency – was found unconscious at his house situated in Khudadad Colony of the metropolis, according to his servant Javaid. The 50-year-old was rushed to a hospital where he could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead. Ramzan Chippa, the head of the Chippa Welfare Trust, also confirmed that Hussain had passed away 15 to 20 minutes before he was brought to the hospital.

He was born on July 5, 1972. He is survived by two children. Hussain was a popular host of Ramazan transmissions – game shows that run pre and post-Iftaar during the fasting month. Starting his media career in 2001 after joining a private news channel, he hosted Aalim Online, which contributed greatly to his early popularity. He also remained associated with Express Media Group. He continued hosting Ramazan shows throughout his career.
