In-laws term it a ‘suicide’, brother claims she has been murdered by husband

KARACHI:

The body of a young married woman was found with a noose around her neck in Sharifabad.

Her in-laws call it a suicide, while the victim’s brother claims his sister is murdered by her husband.

The body of 25-year-old Ayesha, wife of Kamran, was found dumped near AlShifa Mosque in Sharifabad on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

The victim had a noose tied around her neck. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post mortem examination.

The deceased woman’s brother, Subhan claimed in a statement to the police that his sister has been murdered.

“Ayesha called me at 9:30pm to tell that her husband was threatening to divorce her and kill her family members,” he stated.

“We rushed and approached Ayesha’s in-laws and tried to reconcile the couple. Kamran said that he would not kill Ayesha. We stayed there for some time and then returned home.”

Subhan further stated that he got a call from the local police station in the wee hours of Thursday informing him that his sister’s body was found.

“When we reached there, police did not let us enter the police station or see the body,” he added.
