The Abbottabad district administration has launched a crackdown on transporters who were involved in charging excessive fares from passengers.
The district administration along with the Regional Transport Authority and traffic police launched the operation to inspect transport vehicles at exits and bases throughout the city. The team fined several transporters for overcharging passengers and ensured that the excess fare was refunded to the riders.
The district administration took action to implement the fares lists by the public transporters and to provide relief to the masses.
On the fourth day of Eid, based on the movement of city residents, the district administration took action against the public transport vehicles for failing to implement the official fares, and for using tinted glass and fancy number plates.
The district administration taems inspected vehicles running on various routes along with the traffic police to ensure compliance with fare agreement.
Additional Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Arshad Mahmood inspected bus terminals to ensure that public transport vehicles were implementing the agreed upon fares.
Assistant Commissioner Ibne Azeem Abbasi and Assistant Commissioner Lubna Iqbal in Thakot and Assistant Commissioner Rehmatullah Khan in Abbottabad took action against vehicle for using fancy number plates. They also conducted inspections of various routes with the traffic police to ensure that passengers were not orcharged.
