KARACHI:

Sindh's Expanded Program on Immunisation (EPI) is getting ready to observe the World Immunisation Week, which runs from April 24 to 30.

The EPI focuses on creating awareness about the crucial role of vaccinations in safeguarding public health. The theme of this year's campaign is "Big Catch Up," highlighting the right of every individual, particularly children, to receive immunisation against preventable diseases.

To help protect children against 12 life-threatening diseases, Sindh has established over 1900 EPI centres offering free immunisation services. The Health Department is committed to increasing accessibility to vaccines and protecting people of all ages from various diseases.

The Health Minister of Sindh praised parents who brought their children to vaccination centres and emphasised that immunisation is a fundamental public health right. The parliamentary secretary for health urged parents to cooperate with EPI teams who visit their homes.

The campaign has scheduled various events and activities for World Immunization Week, such as awareness walks, press conferences, and community outreach programs. It seeks to promote the many advantages of vaccines in preserving public health and to recognise that ensuring every child has access to life-saving vaccines is a collective responsibility.
