HYDRABAD:

Increasing gas meter rent to Rs500 from Rs40 is putting exorbitant burden on consumers without supplying them the gas, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan MPAs from Hyderabad Rashid Khalji, Nadeem Ahmed Siddiqui and Nasir Hussain Qureshi said in their joint statement.

People in Hyderabad faced the worst gas load shedding throughout the fasting month of Ramazan. Citizens had to face problems in making arrangements for Sehr and Iftar.

They further said that some unscrupulous elements in the gas utility demand undue gratification for changing faulty meters. However, if a consumer refuses to entertain the demands for bribes, he is framed in gas theft and meter tempering case.
