The Pakistan Rangers Sindh said on Sunday that they had arrested the main supplier of arms to muggers and criminals was arrested in a joint operation with police in Korangi.

Law enforcers raided an address in Korangi on the basis of intelligence information about the presence of the suspected arm supplier, Muhammad Asif, and his facilitator, Abdul Hashim, at an address in Korangi. Illegal weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession during the operation.

A Rangers spokesperson said that the suspects had confessed to their involvement in the supply of weapons to street criminals, and abetting countless incidents of robbery and street crime in Korangi, Landhi, Shah Faisal, Orangi Town and Qayyumabad over the last two years.

According to the Rangers, the accused would purchase weapons from various dealers in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and supply them to various gangs of robbers in Karachi. Raids are being conducted to bust other members of the network, they added.

The arrested suspects and the weapons recovered from them have been handed over to police for further investigation.
