The health condition of seventeen year old female elephant of the Karachi Zoo Noor Jahan is deteriorating with each passing day.
She is in ICU since three days and constantly lying down and is unable to change side.
Due to her condition, the administration of Zoo contacted team of FORPAZ International (Friends of Riverside Park & Zoo) for coming back to Pakistan.
According to the details, Noor Jahan is facing worst physical complications for the last three months and negates Zoo administration's claim about her better health.
Female elephant is not taking rest by lying down herself but she is seriously ill.
She is on ground for the last three days due to continuously bad health which is increasing gradually.
Due to swelling on her back legs, she fails to move her body while she cannot change her posture.
A crane is being used for change of the position of female elephant.
Director Zoo confirmed that Noor Jahan is in ICU and the international organisation FORPAZ is contacted again.
The Director Karachi Zoo Kanwar Ayub told The Express Tribune that local doctors are giving treatment to Noor Jahan.
We also informed the team of FORPAZ about the health of female elephant.
The team of FORPAZ will leave for Pakistan in 2-3 days but we are in contact with the team on video link.
He hoped that health of Noor Jahan will be better soon.
He further told that female elephant is under shadow and for providing her natural environment, we also put mud on her.
There is lot of sand for the early recovery of Noor Jahan.
On the instructions of the doctors of FORPAZ, we are giving soft diet, green fodder, sugar cane, rice of jiggery, water melon to Noor Jahan.
Multi vitamins infusion is also providing to her along with other medicines.
He said that local doctors are trying hard for her recovery but she fail to stand on her feet.
Meanwhile, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah visited zoo to see the sick elephant Noor Jehan.
He instructed the zoo administrator and director to use all resources for the treatment of Noor Jehan.
Talking to the media after visiting the zoo today, he said that the condition of the sick elephant is still critical.
He said that a seven-member team of the Livestock Department has also been appointed to take care of the sick elephant and will request the team of doctors from the international organisation to come again.
Municipal Minister Nasir Hussain Shah told Zoo director Kunwar Ayub over the phone that required medicine and experts should be called from any corner of the world and there is no shortage of funds for Noor Jehan's treatment.
