The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has fixed April 18 for hearing a contempt case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, and Asad Umar.
The electoral body has issued a cause list, wherein the case against the PTI leadership for using inappropriate language has been fixed for hearing on April 18.
A four-member bench of the electoral watchdog will hear the contempt case against the three.
Former prime minister Imran could not attend the last hearing of the case due to security concerns.
The commission had given a final opportunity to the PTI leaders on March 29, 2023, to appear in the contempt case.
However, due to their non-appearance, the hearing was adjourned until April 18 by a three-member ECP bench led by Sindh member Nisar Durrani.
Advocate Faisal Chaudhry, representing Imran and Fawad, filed a plea to postpone the hearing, arguing for the revocation of the ECP's order directing the PTI chief to appear in person, until the Lahore High Court announces its verdict.
