Youm-e-Ali observed with religious fervour

Extensive security along route and bomb disposal squad on standby

KARACHI:

Youm-e-Ali was observed across Sindh to mark the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA) on Ramazan 21. Devotees took out mourning processions across the province to pay homage to Hazra Ali (RA).

In Karachi, the main Majlis of Youm-e-Ali was held at Nishtar Park at 10am under Zameerul Hasan Trust. After recitation of Salam and Soz, Maulana Ameen Shaheedi addressed the Majlis.

Later, the main procession of Alam, Taboot and Zuljanah emerged from Nishtar Park lead by Buturab Scouts. Participants of the procession arrived at Numaish after crossing the Mehfile Shahe Khurasan.

The procession culminated at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in the Kharadar area after traversing traditional route.

Police took extensive security measures for the procession.

Several streets on the route of the procession were blocked with containers while the bomb disposal squad thoroughly searched all shops and markets in the area before sealing them.

Jammers were also used extensively along the route of the procession, with those living in surrounding areas complaining that they didn't have cell phone signals throughout the day and it was restored late at night.
