LONDON:

Prince Harry will attend the coronation of his father, King Charles III, on May 6, while his wife Meghan will remain in the US with their children, Buckingham Palace said on Wednesday.

"Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May," it said in a statement.

However, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, will remain in California with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the statement added.

After their wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018, Harry and Meghan quickly drifted apart from the family and moved to Canada and then California. They stepped down from official palace duties in January 2020 and moved to the US.

On US television last year, the couple complained of racism towards Markle in Buckingham Palace.

Charles III took the throne in September after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
