A Pakistan Army soldier has embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire with terrorists in South Waziristan district, the military said in a statement on Sunday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exchange took place between the security forces and terrorists in the district's Karama area which resulted in the killing of a terrorist as well.
However, during the intense exchange of gunfire, Naik Fazal Janan, a 32-year-old resident of District Hangu, fought bravely and ultimately embraced martyrdom for the motherland.

The ISPR said that efforts to sanitise the area are currently underway in order to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.
In another fierce encounter in Razmak area of North Waziristan district, security forces effectively engaged terrorists at their hideout, resulting in the killing of one terrorist.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorist, the military's media wing said.
Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve, ISPR further said.
