PESHAWAR:

In a bid to tighten security around Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, "fresh" party workers from various areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have been summoned to Zaman Park in Lahore.

The security arrangements were made following attempts to arrest Imran Khan earlier this month, which had led to clashes between the police and PTI workers.

As per the schedule released by the party, PTI K-P president Pervez Khattak has directed all district presidents, general secretaries, and former assembly members to bring 40 workers from each constituency to Zaman Park who will perform security "duties" for a four-day period.

The workers will be performing their duties in four phases.

The workers from Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Khyber, and Mohmand have been scheduled to be on duty from March 31 to April 4.

Workers from Hazara Division, including Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Bitgram, Torgar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, and Kolai Palas, will perform duties from April 4 to April 7.

From April 7 to April 10, workers from Kohat, Kirk, Hangu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Karam, Orakzai, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan will provide security services.

Lastly, workers from Malakand, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Lower Chitral, Upper Chitral, and Bajaur will be on duty from April 10 to April 13.

It is important to note that hundreds of PTI workers have been residing at Imran Khan's residence in Zaman Park after the authorities attempted to arrest the former prime minister. PTI claims that hundreds of party workers have also been arrested so far.
