Nawazuddin has reached out for settlement: wife Aaliya hints at divorce

Actor had previously stated in an Instagram post that the two are already divorced

Earlier this week, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui filed a defamation suit against his "former wife," Aaliya Siddiqui, also known as Zainab Siddiqui, in the Bombay High Court. Although the actor had previously stated in an Instagram post that the two are "already divorced," on March 29, Aaliya revealed to ETimes that was not the case.

Confirming that the divorce "will happen" soon, Aaliya also disclosed that the Sacred Games star has reached out for a settlement, but she has not yet responded to him. "Divorce will happen, that's for sure and I will also be fighting for the custody of both my kids. Nawaz has also filed for custody but I will not let that happen. Both my kids want to stay with me and don't want to live with him," she told the publication.

Furthermore, Aaliya stated she is being asked to vacate her rented apartment because of the aforementioned conflict. She said, "I had to vacate by March 30, but I requested a one-month extension as I am unable to find another accommodation. People are refusing to give me property on rent because of this dispute."

Meanwhile, Nawazuddin is seeking INR1 billion in damages and a written apology from both Aaliya and her brother Shamasuddin Siddiqui, whom he accused of making false and defamatory claims about him, reported PTI.

The suit alleges that Shamasuddin, who was Nawazuddin's manager in 2008, assigned all financial work to him, and later cheated and defrauded him by purchasing properties using the actor's money. When Nawazuddin raised queries about the fraud, Shamasuddin instigated Aaliya to file a false case against him.

The case will reportedly be heard on March 30 by a single bench led by Justice Riyaz Chagla. Meanwhile, Shamasuddin has responded to the defamation suit by levying multiple accusations against Nawazuddin, claiming that he ruined eleven years of his life and committed eleven other serious offences. He also alleged that the actor has been married thrice.

Nawazuddin made headlines in January when Aaliya claimed that she was being harassed at his home in Mumbai. She had returned with their children from Dubai, and the actor's mother had filed a complaint against her over a property dispute.
