Feroze Khan apologises for leaking private information of fellow artists

Actor Feroze Khan has apologised for “unknowingly” leaking the private information of his fellow artists in January whilst announcing having served defamation notices to them on social media. The Habs actor said that although he deleted the post immediately after realising his mistake, he’s “deeply sorry” for the inconvenience it caused – the impact of which "just came to his notice."

Late Saturday night, Feroze took to his Instagram to share a detailed apology note. “On January 17, 2023, a legal notice of defamation (drafted by my former legal team) was posted from my Instagram. Somehow, I failed to notice that the said notice contained the personal details of the recipients including their phone numbers. As soon as I realised, I deleted the post immediately within minutes,” read the caption.

He further added that as an actor, he understands the value of privacy. “However, it has now come to my knowledge that as a result of the aforementioned notice, the privacy of my fellow colleagues was violated. As an actor, I know the importance of privacy and value it the most. I never intended for anyone's peace to be disturbed. If any of my colleagues had to go through any inconvenience, I am deeply sorry for that,” he added.

Feroze’s statement comes after a picture he posted with actor Muneeb Butt to declare that all matters were resolved between them.

Muneeb drops charges

Muneeb, who had also served a legal notice to Feroze for leaking the private information of his wife and sister-in-law, has now announced to drop all charges against the Gul-e-Rana actor. Muneeb accepted that the privacy leak was a “mistake” and assured that Feroze never intended to cause any pain or mental distress to his colleagues. He also posted a note on Instagram about the matter.

“I, Muneeb Butt, and family hereby state that to give us pain and mental distress wasn’t Feroze Khan’s intention. It was a mistake and I announce to drop all the charges.” The Sar-e-Rah actor further added that the courts are still deciding on Feroze and his ex-wife Alizay Sultan’s case, and that people should wait for the verdict.

“Honourable judiciary is still hearing Feroze Khan and Syeda Alizay’s case and we have full faith in our judicial system. The verdict that the court will give, we will stand by that. It’s their private matter and everyone should respect their privacy and restrain from commenting,” he concluded.

The actors apparently sought “guidance from elders” to finish their grievances and move on from the incident like a happy “family.” Muneeb, while sharing a picture with Feroze on Instagram, captioned it, “Whatever happened between my family and Feroze Khan, we have decided to end it here with the guidance of our elders. In future, we will maintain a relationship of mutual respect and care like a family.”

Earlier this year in January, after Aiman Khan and Minal Khan posted screenshots of the innumerable phone calls and messages they received after Feroze leaked their private information online, Muneeb vowed to give Feroze a “taste of his own medicine.” The actor filed a complaint against Feroze in the cybercrime cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Muneeb had also said that he thought Feroze was better than this and waited a day thinking it was all just an honest mistake but alas. “Initially, I thought it was a stupid mistake and I waited for 24 hours but no apology or excuse from you proved that it was a deliberate move. I thought you were better than this seriously.”

Backstory

Announcing the move, he had shared photos of the notices, which mentioned the private details of the artists on Twitter. Moments later, he deleted the photos to tweet again, but of course, they had already circulated on the internet.

Feroze's lawyer, Faique Ali Jagirani, shared that the legal notices were served to the actor's ex-wife, Syeda Aliza, directors Musaddiq Malek and Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, actors Osman Khalid Butt, Mira Sethi, Minal, Aiman, Sarwat Gilani, Yasir Hussain and Farhan Saeed alongside singer Asim Azhar.

All of them had taken to social media to condemn the "distasteful" act while detailing the distress the leak caused them and their families. Several demanded an apology and threatened to sue the Khaani star.  The actors had also stood against Feroze and condemned his behaviour after Aliza revealed having to "endure infidelity, blackmail and degradation" at the hands of her ex-husband. Feroze denied all allegations levelled against him and the former couple is fighting the case in court.
