Netflix has confirmed that You, the wildly popular psychological thriller series starring Penn Badgley as the charming, yet murderous Joe Goldberg, will return for its fifth and final season in 2024. The announcement was made by the official Twitter handle for the show, accompanied by a teaser that left fans guessing about the fate of the infamous serial killer, whilst anticipating this final goodbye.

SPOILER ALERT!

The renewal of You comes after a gripping finale in Season 4, which saw Joe and his new love, Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) enjoying their victory after successfully erasing Joe's past misdeeds, and inheriting a massive fortune, following the murder of Kate’s father (courtesy, Joe). The finale left fans on edge, wondering what would eventually become of Joe.

Variety reports that Season 5 of You will also have a change of showrunners, with Michael Foley and Justin W Lo taking over from Sera Gamble, who originally developed the series with Greg Berlanti and ran the show for its first four seasons. As the final season approaches, fans can expect a new direction for the show, with Foley and Lo bringing their unique vision to the series.

Speaking to Variety in a recent interview, Penn Badgley, who plays the charismatic yet sinister Joe Goldberg, shared his thoughts on his character's future. "Is killing Joe enough?" he asked. "Whoever kills him, is brought down to his level," Badgley's comments highlight the complexity of the show's central character and the moral dilemmas that arise from his actions.

Details about the production schedule for the final season have not yet been released, but it is expected that the show will return to Joe's hometown of New York City, where the story first began in Season 1. As fans eagerly anticipate the final season of You, the question remains: will Joe Goldberg finally face the consequences of his actions, or will he continue to evade justice?
